2. The service
Netip is a free tool that shows your public IP address, its approximate location, your provider, signs of a VPN or proxy, and information about your browser. It also lets you look up the public information of another IP address, and offers a simple API. By using the site you accept these terms.
3. Nature of the information
- Location and provider come from a geolocation database (DB-IP Lite, CC BY 4.0). They are approximate: the country is usually right; the city may be several dozen kilometres off.
- VPN and proxy detection relies on signs (hosting network, time zone, headers, WebRTC). It can be wrong either way.
- An IP address does not reveal a person's identity or street address.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use the site or its API to harass, stalk or try to identify a person, query the service in an automated, large-scale way, circumvent its technical limits or disrupt the service. The API is meant for personal, moderate use; request limits apply.
5. No warranty and liability
The service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”, with no guarantee of accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, Netip is not liable for damages arising from use of the information shown. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or removes mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.

7. Changes and governing law
We may change these terms; the version in force is the one published on this page. Subject to mandatory consumer rights, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, and the courts of Wyoming have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of your country of residence.
